Dr. Sjoerd Boersma
Researcher Data Science
After finishing the master Systems and Control at Delft University of Technology, Sjoerd successfully pursued a PhD, also in Delft. He has been working on dynamic modelling and optimization (control) of a wind farm. After working for two years in Lyon at SuperGrid-Institute as R&D engineer on dynamic modeling and optimization of the electricity grid, Sjoerd started at Wageningen University in the Biometris group. Here Sjoerd is working on dynamic modeling and optimization of several different agricultural applications.
Sjoerd is specialized in applying the theory of systems and control (dynamic modeling and optimization) in different applications to optimize them and to also understand their governing dynamics better.
Since January 2024 Sjoerd is working part-time in the Jan Ingenhousz Institute. His main interest is to extract novel information about the photosynthesis process from measured photosynthesis data using data-driven dynamical modelling techniques such as neural ODE’s.
